Introduction

Welcome to the Roam community! Roam is a platform designed for off-road enthusiasts to share activities, photos, videos, and experiences with like-minded adventurers. To ensure that Roam remains a positive, inclusive, and helpful space for everyone, we've established these community guidelines and content policies.

Community Guidelines

Treat Others With Respect

Respect is fundamental to the Roam community. We ask that you:

• Be kind and considerate in your interactions with others
• Respect different viewpoints, experience levels, and backgrounds
• Avoid personal attacks, harassment, or intimidation
• Use constructive language when providing feedback or advice
• Consider how your words might be received by others

Share Authentic Content

The value of Roam comes from authentic shared experiences:

• Share your actual activities, photos, and experiences
• Don't misrepresent your location, activity, or achievement
• Give proper credit when sharing content that isn't your own
• Don't manipulate activity data in a way that misrepresents your experience

Promote Safety and Environmental Responsibility

As off-road enthusiasts, we have a responsibility to:

• Respect trail closures, private property, and protected areas
• Follow "Tread Lightly" principles and local regulations
• Avoid glorifying dangerous or illegal activities
• Consider the environmental impact of off-road activities
• Prioritize safety in the content you share

Foster Positive Community Interaction

Help make Roam a welcoming and constructive community:

• Share trail information, tips, and helpful advice
• Provide constructive feedback on routes and experiences
• Celebrate others' achievements and experiences
• Welcome newcomers to the community
• Report content that violates our guidelines

Prohibited Content

The following types of content are not allowed on Roam:

Harmful or Dangerous Content

• Content that promotes dangerous or illegal activities
• Instructions on how to bypass safety features or regulations
• Content that encourages environmental damage or trespassing
• Posts that glorify reckless behavior that puts people at risk

Hateful or Discriminatory Content

• Content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics
• Derogatory language or slurs targeting specific groups
• Content that denies historical atrocities

Harassment and Bullying

• Personal attacks or persistent unwanted contact
• Doxing or sharing others' personal information without consent
• Threats or incitement to harass other users
• Content intended to shame or humiliate others

Sexually Explicit Content

• Pornographic material
• Sexually explicit images, videos, or text
• Content that sexualizes minors in any way

Spam and Deceptive Practices

• Excessive self-promotion or commercial content
• Posting the same content repeatedly
• Misleading descriptions, tags, or metadata
• Impersonating others or misrepresenting your identity
• Spreading misinformation

Intellectual Property Violations

• Content that infringes on others' copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• Unauthorized use of others' content without proper attribution

Enforcement Actions

When users violate our community guidelines, we may take one or more of the following actions:

Content Removal

Content that violates our guidelines will be removed from the platform. We will notify users when their content has been removed and explain which guideline was violated.

Warnings

For first-time or minor violations, users may receive a warning explaining the violation and requesting compliance with our guidelines going forward.

Temporary Restrictions

Users who repeatedly violate our guidelines may have certain features temporarily restricted, such as the ability to post content, comment, or interact with other users for a specified period.

Account Suspension

In cases of serious or repeated violations, accounts may be suspended temporarily. During suspension, users cannot access their account or use Roam's features.

Account Termination

For the most severe violations or patterns of repeated violations, accounts may be permanently terminated. Terminated accounts cannot be recovered, and the user may be prohibited from creating new accounts.

Reporting Content

We rely on our community to help maintain these standards. If you encounter content that violates our guidelines:

1. Use the "Report" button next to the content or user
2. Select the most appropriate reason for your report
3. Provide additional details if prompted
4. Submit your report

Our team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action, though we may not be able to provide details about specific enforcement actions due to privacy considerations.

Appeals Process

If you believe your content was removed or your account was restricted in error, you can appeal the decision:

1. Go to your account settings and select "Appeals"
2. Locate the enforcement action you wish to appeal
3. Provide information explaining why you believe the decision was incorrect
4. Submit your appeal for review

We will review your appeal and respond as quickly as possible, typically within 5-7 business days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update these guidelines from time to time to address new issues, respond to community feedback, or reflect changes in our services. Significant changes will be announced through the app, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
