Requesting Deletion of Your Data
At Roam, we respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how you can request the deletion of your personal information from our systems.
We aim to process all deletion requests within 30 days of receipt. You will receive confirmation once your data has been deleted.
How to Request Data Deletion
Option 1: In-App Deletion
The simplest way to delete your data is through the app:
- Open the Roam app
- Go to Settings (gear icon in the profile tab)
- Scroll down and tap "Account"
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Follow the prompts to confirm your decision
This will permanently delete your account and all associated data.
Option 2: Email Request
If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion via email:
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
- Include the following information in your email:
- Your full name
- Email address associated with your Roam account
- Brief statement requesting account deletion
We may request additional verification to protect your privacy and security.
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you request account deletion, we will permanently delete:
- Your profile information (name, email, profile picture, etc.)
- Activities and tracks you've created
- Photos and media you've uploaded
- Comments and social interactions
- Usage data and preferences
Data Retention Period
After receiving your deletion request, we will:
- Immediately deactivate your account
- Delete your personal data within 30 days
- Remove your information from our regular backups as they cycle (within 90 days)
Note: Some information may be retained for legal, security, or business purposes as outlined in our Privacy Policy. This typically includes limited records of transactions, terms acceptance, and security logs.
California Residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. When you submit a deletion request, we will comply with applicable California privacy laws.
European Residents
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), residents of the European Economic Area have the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"). Our deletion process complies with GDPR requirements.
