Description
Milk Creek Road is an easy gravel route running through the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, suitable for most 4x4 vehicles. It provides access to dispersed camping areas, some spacious enough for RVs, and the nearby Lost Lake, which offers more camping and fishing. Cellphone service can be intermittent along this road. Note that it is not maintained in winter, making it best to travel from late spring through fall. This road is distinct from the more technical 'Milk Creek #965' trail in the same broader region, which is primarily for motorcycles and mountain bikes and accessed separately, potentially via rougher connecting routes like FR1708.
Directions
The general location of Milk Creek Road can be found using the onX Offroad app (approximate reference coordinates for the area: 46.6429158, -121.086839). It's a gravel road within the Wenatchee National Forest. Specific entry points may vary. Be aware that access to other, more technical trails in the Milk Creek area, such as the moto/bike trail Milk Creek #965 (trailhead near 46.987620, -120.991380), may involve different access routes like Forest Road 1708, which can be in poor condition and require high-clearance vehicles.
Difficulty
This is generally an easy gravel road, suitable for most stock 4x4 vehicles. No major obstacles are expected on the main road itself. However, it's important to note that the road is not maintained in winter, so it can become impassable due to snow or very muddy conditions in the wet season (typically late fall through spring). Some connecting forest roads or access routes to specific trailheads in the area, like FR1708, might be in poorer condition and could require high-clearance vehicles.
